Commissioner of Police not resigning

Commissioner of Police Edward Hall has dismissed reports that he is on the verge of  resigning, saying that The SUN’s queries came as news to him, as he has no such intentions.
A number of persons said they have heard that the Commissioner was planning to vacate the office for reasons unknown, and contacted The SUN, so as to find out if such allegation was true.

Last week, former Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands Galmo Williams, in a statement, expressed shock at what he deemed the unfair treatment of local civil servants, whom he said were being forced out of their jobs, which he intimated were being taken over by British appointees.

Against that background, it was rumoured that the Police Commissioner could find himself on the chopping block, based on the current transition that the force have been experiencing, with British Nationals being appointed to key positions in the force, such as head of the Financial Crimes Unit, Marine Branch and Operations.

However, when contacted, Commissioner Hall indicated that he had no such plans, and that the allegations were not factually. “That is news to me. I am not aware that I am going to resign,” Commissioner Hall said.

But in Williams’ article, a number of persons are afraid to speak freely, for fear of being victimized under the guise of restructuring and replace by someone from the United Kingdom, calling the situation a climate of fear. He said resignation of Kendle Williams, former Registrar of Lands and Lindsey Musgrove, former Director of the Tourist Board were prime examples.
