A number of women who attended the Abundant Life Ministries International's Daughters of Zion Women's Retreat 2008 came away refreshed, more invigorated, with better confidence of charting their own course spiritually, socially and corporately.
Parts of the three-day event were held at Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort and Spa between Friday, May 2 and Sunday May 4 and was held under the theme Women in Greatness being Whole. This year the conference attracted a number of powerful female speakers, who not only brought the word of God to their female counterparts, but also motivated them to be the best woman that they could be.
The guests for this year's conference were Evangelist Gertrude Jaghai, Dr. Jennifer Devaux, Pastor Shirley Stubbs, and Psalmist Nadia Lewis. Aside from preaching, teaching and praising God, the retreat also took on the role of a character-building nature, which saw a number of other activities being held over the period.
Friday's opening saw Evangelist Gertrude Taylor Jaghai giving the main address. The evening began with praise and worship by the Abundant Life Ministries Praise Team, followed by a number of activities, including a performance from the Youth Department. Minister Barbara Hamilton, who heads the church's Christian Education Department, also gave a brief history of Daughters of Zion.
The opening was also addressed by pastor of the church Bishop C.A. Williams III. Psalmist Nadia Lewis delivered a powerful rendition of Cece Winans' Alabaster Box', which evoked the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Before sunrise on Saturday, there was a walk and meditation on the beach by the delegates, and following breakfast, the praise and worship session Morning Glory was held, which saw Pastor Shirley Stubbs delivering the message.
Following the break, a panel discussion, hosted by the church's men's department Men of Valour and moderated by Rev. Sherlock Padmore was held. The panel discussion proceeded the afternoon session, which saw Dr. Jennifer Deveaux delivering the main presentation under the topic Women in the workplace/Apparel. For that session, women were required to bring their make-up accessory kits.
On Sunday morning, Dr. Deaveaux was the guest speaker during the early service Morning Glory - which saw Psalmist Nadia Lewis making a powerful presentation, which once again summoned the Holy Ghost among the worshippers. The second service Celebration of Worship was the delivered by Bishop C.A. Williams which put the lid on this year's retreat.
